Migrate Cisco Unified CM to Webex Calling

Vector reads your Unified CM cluster, shows what maps to Webex Calling and what needs a decision, then provisions Webex Calling one group at a time and checks the result.

What Vector moves

Created on Webex Calling from what the collector found on Unified CM.

Users
Created with a calling license, location, extension and direct number. Voicemail is switched on for users who had it.
Locations and local gateway trunks
Sites become Webex Calling locations, with the trunk to your own gateway where you keep your carrier.
Phones and workspaces
Supported phones are added by hardware address and assigned to a person or a shared workspace.
Hunt groups, call pickup and call park
Rebuilt with their members and extensions.
Auto attendants
Built from the voicemail system's call handlers, with business hours and after-hours transfer.
Shared and virtual lines
Including manager and assistant arrangements, single number reach and speed dials.

What needs a decision from you

Vector reports these before you schedule a cutover, so they are found by the project team and not by a user.

Numbers from a cloud-connected carrier
These are ordered or ported with the carrier first. Vector gives you the list.
Analog ports
Fax machines and other analog devices need an adapter or gateway on the new platform.
Phones that cannot be converted
Vector lists them so you can choose a replacement model.
Hunt groups with escalation tiers
Webex Calling uses one member list per group, so tiered groups are flagged for review.

How Vector connects

To the source
An on-site collector reads Cisco Unified CM and its voicemail system and produces a signed inventory. The collector only reads. Your Unified CM credentials stay on the collector and are not sent to Vector.
To Webex Calling
A Webex administrator authorizes Vector for the project. Vector then works through the Webex administration interfaces, using that authorization only.

The steps, in order

After each group, Vector reads every user back from Webex Calling and compares extension, number, license and voicemail with the plan. You can run the whole plan as a rehearsal that writes nothing.

A group can be removed in reverse order: features, then numbers, then accounts. Locations and trunks are left in place.
