Migrate Cisco Unified CM to Webex Calling Dedicated Instance
Dedicated Instance is Unified CM hosted in the Webex cloud, so this migration is cluster to cluster. Vector reads the source cluster and rebuilds it on the new one in ordered phases, verifying each before the next.
What Vector moves
Created on Webex Calling Dedicated Instance from what the collector found on Unified CM.
- Class of control
- Partitions and calling search spaces.
- System and media
- Device pools, regions, locations, date and time groups, and media resources.
- Dial plan and trunks
- SIP trunks, route groups and lists, and route, translation and transformation patterns.
- Users and devices
- Users with their services, phones, button templates, extension mobility profiles and speed dials.
- Features
- Hunt pilots, hunt lists and line groups, call pickup, call park, intercom and Meet-Me numbers.
- Voicemail
- Mailboxes, call handlers and greetings in the voicemail system.
What needs a decision from you
Vector reports these before you schedule a cutover, so they are found by the project team and not by a user.
- Phone trust lists
- Each phone trusts the cluster it was registered to. Clearing that before the move is a step you plan per phone model.
- Encrypted phone profiles
- Secure profiles are rebuilt as non-secure and re-secured as a separate step.
- Carrier and numbers
- Whether numbers are ported or stay on a local gateway is decided before the dial plan phase.
- Manager and assistant service
- Documented for you to configure on the new cluster.
How Vector connects
- To the source
- An on-site collector reads Cisco Unified CM and its voicemail system and produces a signed inventory. The collector only reads. Your Unified CM credentials stay on the collector and are not sent to Vector.
- To Webex Calling Dedicated Instance
- You give Vector administrator credentials for the new cluster and its voicemail system for the project. Vector writes to them through their administration interfaces.
The steps, in order
Each phase reads back what it created on the new cluster and compares it with the source before the next phase starts.
Each phase can be rolled back by removing what it created, newest first.
